Eagle Park Petition Meets Opposition Request Would Place Limit On Commercial Construction A petition by Eagle Park resi residents resi- resi residents dents seeking to prevent more commercial establishments in inthe inthe inthe the Shepard Boulevard and and Bushnell Drive area was opposed by two members of the planning and zoning commission last night Richard Mager and William Jenkins spoke out against the petition petition which asks that half a block in Eagle Park be rezoned from C l C-l 1 commercial to R-l R R 1 or R 2 residential Mager commented com com- commented commented that rezoning of the area was a private matter between the property owners and the de do developer developer of the subdivision He said that if the commission began to rezone property on re reo requests re- re requests quests of persons other than the owners no one in the city would feel eel safe Jenkins concurred saying aying that such action would be e clearly outside our proper scope tt I Tills MIS OPPOSITION resulted inthe in inha inthe the ha petition being filed for fur fur- furher further ther her study but the commission is is not likely to act on oa it unless ordered to do so by the too City Council which also will receive a copy The petition states that 95 85 percent per percent percent cent of the residents are fire opposed to any type cf of if commercial ven ven- venture venture venture ture in fn the area as evidenced by their virtual boycott o of the serve sere ice ica station operating perating at Shepard d Boulevard and Business High Highway Highway way 63 In to the only public hearing of o othe f the evening approval was given give n to a request of owners of SOI COS 07 and Danforth Dr to rezone that area from C l to R R-l. R 1 The commission approved with some minor recommendations on lot alignment and street connections connections a sketch plat of Green GreenMeadows GreenMeadows GreenMeadows Meadows Subdivision by Central Missouri Investments Inc Ap Ap- Approval Approval Approval also was given to a pre pre- preliminary preliminary preliminary plat of a of lots on College Park East owned by Perry V. V Ewing Jr PUBLIC HEARINGS were set for Sept 22 for the following 0 o Request of Robert C. C Smith Jr in behalf of property owners to rezone 1507 Gary St. St and 1503 1506 through 1514 West Ash St. St from R 2 to R o Request of Paul Kiethley to rezone Oakland Gravel Rd from R 1 to R R 3 I O A Request of Central Missouri Investments Inc to rezone pro- pro proposed proposed posed Green Meadows subdivision from A l to R R-l and R Request of Properties Inc to rezone proposed Forum Shopping Center area from l C-l C 1 toC to C Request of Broadway Chris Chris- Christian Christian Christian tian Church Inc to rezone north portion of 2601 2801 West Broadway from R R-l to R
